| Description | A promotional postcard of a Laboratory at Springfield College. The postcard shows a professor helping a student look through a microscope with the caption of "Flying into the Unknown A laboratory Scene at Springfield College, Springfield Massachusetts". The professor is most likely Peter Karpovich, an innovative and premier sports physiology professor at Springfield College. Peter Karpovich arrived at Springfield College in 1925 where he enrolled as a special advanced student and earned a Master's Degree in Physical Education from SC in 1929. In 1927, while completing his studies, Karpovich became a professor of physiology at Springfield College and remained in that position until his retirement from teaching in 1961. After retiring, Karpovich remained as the Director of the Physiology Lab at Springfield. Karpovich, published over 150 books, articles and reports covering nearly fifty years of research. He died in 1975. |
