(J.J.) Oakes, postmaster and dry goods store owner. The South Street property has clapboard siding with a shingle roof and two chimneys. The three step main entrance is accessible on two sides. A pile of wood is gathered on the grass verge in front of the residence. The top of a windmill is shown in the background, in back of the house. A low stone wall adjoins the annex. The road is unpaved. Trees surround the sides of the house. This residence is reputedly one of the oldest houses in Southbridge.
