| Description | In celebration of the 100th anniversary of the incorporation of Southbridge, a three-day celebration was held - July 2, 3 and 4, 1916. The President of the Executive Committee was Hon. Calvin D. Paige. The dedication of Notre Dame Church was the first event on the program. The brochure also announced that Town Hall would feature "An exhibition of articles of historic interest and a comparative exhibition of some manufacturing methods and products of 1816 and 1916 will be shown." The buildings depicted are festooned with buntings and flags. A view of the Central Baptist Church, offering rest room facilities and the Jacob Edwards Library at the corner of Main and Fosters streets, is provided. A footman in a uniform precedes the Woman's Club float, which has four horses pulling the attractive wooden structure decorated with greenery. Followed on by The Girls Club with two horseback riders and ladies marching in the rear. A glimpse of the trolley tracks are given in the foreground. The Main Street is crowded with onlookers for the parade. |
